Hi Everybody,
Here’s a few new titdbits for you…
REALLY GOOD IDEA- Stuart Barnes, Dr Matt’s brother, has created a website for small businesses call Local Noggins. The idea behind this is a yellow pages type directory that is much easier to use and is based around locally owned small businesses.
As many of you know, large business has taken over America and is driving small business out in droves. Remember “the customer is always right” and other phrases that are not used these days? It’s because the “big boys” have taken over everything and they do not care about satisfaction, only about the bottom line. And they can get to their bottom line by influencing government regulations and pushing out their competition, leaving you with no other choices.
Please check out my brother’s website at www.LocalNoggins.com If you are a small business owner you can get listed for only $5 per month or $50 per year – your listing will show up in web searches. If you are not a small business owner, check out the site as a guide to shop locally the best you can. 🙂
EAR INFECTION REMEDY- Here’s a quick and easy ear infection remedy we have used countless times: simply mix up a solution of equal parts alcohol and white vinegar and put several drops into the infected ear.
There is very little that alcohol and vinegar cannot kill off, and the alcohol helps dry the environment out, also making the ear inhospitable to bacteria. Make sure that after you put drops in to lay on your side with the affected ear up so that the mixture does not leak right back out. It is best to do this around two times per day, especially right before bed at night.
Another natural, but less appealing, remedy for ear infections is blowing tobacco smoke into the ear and then plugging the ear with a cotton ball to which oil has been added (to keep the smoke from escaping easily). This chokes off the air supply to the offending bacteria, which need oxygen to survive. An even less appealing method is to use fresh urine drops in the same way that the alcohol and vinegar solution was used. The urea in the urine also kills off bacteria, but the urine MUST be fresh or it is not sterile.
WE DON’T HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT WE ARE EATING- It seems like simple common sense that we have a right to know what is being put in our food. Our illustrious leaders evidently believe otherwise.
In a recent vote (“To permit States to require that any food, beverage, or other edible product offered for sale have a label on indicating that the food, beverage, or other edible product contains a genetically engineered ingredient.”) our right to know what we are eating was voted down 73 to 26.
Genetically Modified Organisms in food is a highly controversial subject, with quite a bit of science telling us it is dangerous, not just for human bodies, but for other animal and plant life. Americans have made it quite clear that they would like their food labeled, letting them know if their food contains these products, so that we can each decide individually if we want to put these foods into our bodies. Our leaders voted that we don’t have that right.
For those of you in Tennessee, our esteemed Senators both voted against the labeling requirement. If you would like to know how your “leaders” voted, please go to: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=112&session=2&vote=00161
Hope this helps,
Dr Matt and Dr Robin

This week’s bit of Useless Information: Babe Ruth wore a cabbage leaf under his hat to keep his head cool. He changed it every two innings.
