Pesticides Linked to Leukemia, On the Take and ADHD Drug Deaths

Hi everybody,

We have a few more quick tidbits for you…

LEUKEMIA PESTICIDE LINK- A recent issue of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine journal reports that pregnant women and children exposed to pesticides and insect sprays run double the risk of developing childhood leukemia. The researchers evidently found “significant” and disturbing connections between 280 children with leukemia and their exposures to fungicides and insecticides. This is a good reason to eat naturally, buy organic whenever possible, and use natural and non-toxic weed and insect killers (like those found at www.planetnatural.com).

ON THE TAKE- Michael Fumento, a well known columnist for Scripps Howard News Service, has been fired for secretly taking $60,000 from the agricultural giant, Monsanto, to try to convince the public that Monsanto is a good company. Monsanto is the company that makes the poisonous sweetener aspartame, the highly poisonous weed killer named Round-up that is showing up in drinking water, and genetically engineered plants that cannot reproduce which forces farmers to re-buy seeds from them every year.

ADHD DRUG DEATHS- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity drugs like Ritalin, Concerta, Methylin, Metadate, and Adderall are again under fire as they have been linked to serious cardiovascular problems including sudden death. In fact, several children’s deaths have now been linked to the medications. Other non-fatal cardiovascular problems have also been noted, including palpitations, arrhythmias, high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes.

According to the report, the FDA is now just starting to admit a possible linking and just beginning to consider approaches for studying the link.

Due to increased advertising and marketing, adult use of these drugs have risen 90% since 2002, and sales of these drugs have gone up from $759 million in 2000 to $3.1 billion in 2004.

Hope this helps,
