Hi Everybody
Here are a few new tidbits…
MONSANTO CORN IS COMING SOON TO A GROCERY STORE NEAR YOU- Surveys have shown consistently that Americans do not want to eat Genetically Engineered foods (Frankenfoods), and will avoid them whenever possible.
Despite the overwhelming opposition to these types of foods, they are still being pushed onto our dinner plates without our knowledge. Monsanto, probably the biggest culprit, has been doing this for years. Their newest frankenfood to hit the market will be sweet corn.
As usual, the experimental food will not be labeled, so you will not know if you are eating it. The FDA is not even requiring a scientific approval process, which means there will be no public comment when the food hits the markets.
On the bright side, General Mills (Green Giant, Cascadian Farms), Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods have indicated that they will not incorporate the genetically modified sweet corn into their products. It would probably be best to stick with their corn products for now.
Thanks to WB of NC goes out for this one.
FATTY LIVERS- If you have elevated Liver Enzymes on your blood work, or have been told you have a fatty liver, there are several areas to look at.
Most people associate fatty livers with alcoholism or hepatitis. These two things definitely cause fatty livers, but one of the leading causes these days is actually obesity and the intake of highly processed foods (which is linked with obesity). Fatty Liver Disease is exactly what it sounds like – excessive fatty deposits in the liver.
Though there are medications, vitamins and herbs for this problem, in this case the best treatment is literally diet changes and exercise. In fact, in most studies, losing 12% of your body weight has been linked to a total elimination of fatty liver disease. 12% weight loss if you are overweight with fatty liver deposits sounds like a good, reasonable, workable goal.
HEMORRHOIDS- Hemorrhoids are basically varicose veins of the anus. They are painful and a big problem for many people, especially as they age. There are a couple of home remedies for hemorrhoids that seem to work pretty well for most people (but not everybody).
First is a salve. Try applying Vicks Vapor Rub or some other kind of mentholated salve to the hemorrhoid every time you go to the bathroom. Yes it gets warm, but not horribly so. This seems to take the pain out of the hemorrhoid but does not make the hemorrhoid go away. The pain is what is usually the worst part of the hemorrhoid. If you are afraid it will burn too much, start off with very little until you see how you respond.
The second solution is a small trampoline – one of those “mini-trampolines” so many people exercise on. It is often also called a “rebounder”. Bouncing on a rebounder on a regular basis seems to increase blood flow to the area and increase the health of the veins of the anus. For some people, hemorrhoids will literally go away just by using the rebounder, though they tend to come back if you stop the exercise.
Hope this helps,
