Hi Everybody
Here are a few more tidbits for you…
DIABETES HOT SPOTS- We’ve all heard that Type 2 Diabetes has become an epidemic due to a high junk food diet leading to obesity. A surprising fact may be that the epidemic hasn’t really hit all of America. Instead it has concentrated into two main areas – the South and Indian Tribes in Arizona.
The Diabetes hot spots seem to be linked with lower incomes and lower educational levels which evidently leads to higher rates of obesity and obesity-rated diseases, like Diabetes, from high junk food diets and low levels of exercise.

WISH I COULD DO THAT- Johnson & Johnson, as reported some time ago, has come under investigation for their marketing efforts to push a drug called Risperdal.
Risperdal was once Johnson & Johnson’s best selling drug, generating around $24 billion in sales from 2003 – 2010. When the extent of the drugs side effects became known they were told to stop advertising the drug and to tell of the side effects. Instead, they were caught pushing the medication to unwary doctors and not informing the extent of the side effects found.
Johnson & Johnson will reportedly pay $2.2 billion to end an official probe into the extent of their misconduct. I wish we could do that – do something wrong and then pay to have the government to look the other way. The golden rule seems to be playing out again – he who has the gold makes all the rules.
Thanks to WB of NC for this one
MAMMOGRAPHY INDUCED CANCERS- A growing body of research is finding that mammography is much more cancer-causing than previously believed. A paper published in 2006 in the British Journal of Radiobiology found that mammography may be 4-6 times more mutagenic and cancerogenic (cancer causing) than was believed. Women getting screened to prevent cancer are evidently having the seeds planted by mammography to produce cancer.
What makes this sadder is that Thermography is available as an alternative to Mammography. Thermography does not introduce radiation or anything else into the body – instead it simply reads the heat coming off of the body. Thermography is less invasive, does not cause discomfort, does not cause cancer, and is considered a better diagnostic tool for screening breasts.
So why is Thermography not being used? Because most hospitals already have Mammography units and do not want the added expense of adding a Thermography unit. But when public demand gets high enough they will.
Hope this helps,
Dr Matt and Dr Robin
