Corn Killing Honeybees, Why Organics are Expensive and Kashi Not So Healthy

Hi Everybody,

Here are a few new ones for you…

MONSANTO CORN KILLING HONEYBEES- Monsanto has created a genetically engineered corn named Mon810. It was created to produce a mutant version of the insecticide Bt. This corn has now been banned in Poland. Why? Polish beekeepers were able to prove the corn was killing their honeybees.

Many of you may have heard that honeybees are dying in large numbers. This honeybee die-off has been named Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and could be a major problem for food supply world-wide  since honeybees play a major role in spreading pollen to propagate plant life, which in turn provides food for animals – including humans.

Many analysts believe that Monsanto has known the danger their GMOs posed to bees all along. The biotech giant recently purchased a CCD research firm, Beeologics, that government agencies, including the US Department of Agriculture, have been relying on for help unraveling the mystery behind the disappearance of the bees. Now that they own the research firm, it is very doubtful they will blame themselves for the problem.

WHY ARE ORGANICS MORE EXPENSIVE?– Ever wonder why organics cost so much more than regular food? Its because of a federal law known as the Farm Bill which takes billions of tax dollars every year to subsidize ‘chemicalized’ (non-organic) crops.  By subsidizing the crops, our tax money is already paying for most of the cost, so the companies producing these crops are able to sell them at the markets very cheap.

If the government really wanted to promote healthy eating and truly wage the war on obesity, all they would have to do is to subsidize healthy food and make it dirt cheap instead of the unhealthy foods and junk foods.

KASHI FOODS NOT SO HEALTHY- The Green Grocer, an independent natural food store in Rhode Island, has taken Kashi products off their shelves and posted this note in their place:

“Where’s my Kashi?! You might be wondering where your favorite Kashi cereals have gone. It has recently come to our attention that 100% of the soy used in Kashi products is Genetically Modified, and that when the USDA tested the grains used there were found to be pesticides that are known carcinogens and hormone disruptors.”

Evidently, most Kashi and Kellogg’s products are contaminated with GMOs. In fact, if you write to Kellogg’s to complain, they will write you a letter back trying to tell you how great genetically modified organisms are.

Hope this helps,

Dr Matt and Dr Robin

This week’s bit of Useless Information:  Chevrolet tried marketing a Chevrolet Nova in Spanish-speaking countries.  It didn’t sell well because “no va” means “doesn’t go” in Spanish.
